Santa Barbara, CA – February 17, 2010 – Mission Linen Supply, a leader in textile rental and buy direct programs, announced today that it has been awarded a contract from Kern Medical Center. Under the three-year contract, the Center will rely on Mission Linen to supply and service bed and other linens as well as scrubs.

Kern Medical Center is an acute healthcare facility owned and operated by the county of Kern, CA, and affiliated with the University of California Schools of Medicine at Los Angeles and Irvine. Prior to signing with Mission Linen Supply, the center maintained an on-premise laundry.

Robert Borland, Director of EVS/Laundry Services, shared the reasons for selecting Mission Linen Supply. “The committee appointed to oversee the RFP process was unanimous that Mission Linen Supply provided the best overall fit to accommodate our needs.” Borland cited key factors in the decision as Mission Linen’s strict adherence to healthcare laundry requirements and the benefits of working with a locally-operated business. He referred to the company’s ability to identify waste and improve utilization as another reason for the selection. Under the contract arrangement Kern will rely on Mission Linen’s Bakersfield, CA plant to supply and process the linens and scrubs.

Karl Willig, Mission Linen Supply’s President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “This is another opportunity for us to contribute our disciplined approach to meeting rigorous healthcare standards. We’re pleased to support Kern Medical Center in providing the best quality service and care to patients in the county.”
