Industrial Laundry Cleans Up With Two Cal/OSHA Awards

Mission Linen Supply’s Morro Bay Facility is the Second Industrial Laundry in the U.S. to Receive Prestigious Safety Recognition

Santa Barbara, CA – January 14, 2010 –Mission Linen Supply announced today that Cal/OSHA has recognized it for the second time by naming the Morro Bay, CA facility for its Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) approval. The company qualified for the certification for its Fresno facility in 2009, making Mission Linen the recipient of both the first and the second SHARP award given in the United States to a commercial/industrial laundry.

The Morro Bay facility qualified for the certification by successfully meeting or exceeding the requirements cited by the agency. These include completing all fifty-eight essential safety attributes of Federal OSHA and maintaining a four year average Total Recordable Injury Rate below 90% of the industry standard. The agency also requires that the recipient demonstrate an effective working relationship between management and labor to ensure that best practices and communication are employed.

“SHARP qualification demonstrates Mission Linen’s commitment to ensure the health and safety of our employees. Our partnership with Cal/OSHA began in 2002 with the intention to qualify all Mission Linen facilities. So far we are two-for-two, and our goal is to see other Mission sites become eligible in the near future,” commented Don Bock, Director of Risk Management for Mission Linen Supply.

As a certified SHARP partner, Mission Linen Supply receives a reduction in Workers’ Compensation costs as well as benefiting from increased employee involvement in the safety process. SHARP recognition is an intermediate partnership implemented by Cal/OSHA and partially funded by Fed OSHA. The SHARP recognition demonstrates Morro Bay’s higher level commitment to worker safety. Mission Linen Supply was presented its second SHARP certificate in December, 2009.
