Two California Hospitals Show Their Support for Company’s Growing Health Care Division

Santa Barbara, CA – April 19, 2010 – Mission Linen Supply, a leader in textile rental and buy direct programs, announced today that it has added two new hospitals to its growing list of health care accounts: Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital and Bakersfield Heart Hospital. Under the new contracts, both hospitals will rely on Mission Linen to provide all of their patient linen supply needs.

Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister, California, is part of the San Benito Health Care District. With 172 beds in the Acute Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facilities combined, the hospital generates approximately 54,000 pounds of linen per month. Prior to signing with Mission Linen Supply, the hospital was utilizing a COG (Customer Owned Goods) program and contracting an outside commercial laundry to process their linen.

Clay Waltzer, Director of EVS and Food Services for Hazel Hawkins, shared his reasons for selecting Mission Linen Supply. “With a new ER facility opening later this year, we needed a total rental service that would meet our needs now and in the future. Mission Linen Supply customized a program for us and then demonstrated the cost and time savings. We are confident that we will receive quality service from people who understand our business and patients’ needs.” The facility will rely on Mission Linen’s plant in Salinas for their linen supply and uniform needs.

Bakersfield Heart Hospital is a for-profit hospital specializing in heart and vascular care. The hospital is owned by MedCath Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina, and generates approximately 30,000 pounds of laundry monthly from its 54 patient beds. In an attempt to extend a “resort feel” to patient care, Bakersfield Heart will rent luxury linens to provide an upscale experience to their patients.

According to Michael Bell, Director of Quality Management for Bakersfield Heart Hospital, “Mission Linen Supply met all our expectations and was able to come up with innovative ideas as well. “ Mission Linen’s Bakersfield facility will provide service to the hospital.

Karl Willig, Mission Linen Supply’s President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “Everyone at Mission Linen Supply is pleased by the opportunity to partner with these two outstanding medical facilities. We are excited to contribute our experience meeting rigorous health care standards and look forward to helping these two hospitals provide the best quality service and care to patients in their region.”
